Professionally guided exercise once physical therapy ends
After you complete physical therapy following knee replacement surgery, continuing your exercise program at home may help you achieve your rehabilitation goals.
The Maintaining Motion Knee Replacement Program at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) allows you to keep exercising under the direction of New England Baptist Hospital’s physical therapy team. It can be a valuable part of knee rehabilitation.
Our program is for anyone who’s undergone a total knee replacement and completed a physical therapy program at New England Baptist Hospital within the last three months. To participate, you cannot have any new or worsening knee pain since the time of your surgery.
Group size is limited to five participants per instructor. This allows our instructors to best address your personal needs. If you’d prefer it, or if a physical therapist recommends it, one-on-one sessions also are available.
The program begins with a phone evaluation with a certified athletic trainer. You talk about where you are in your knee replacement recovery, what’s happened since completing your physical therapy program and your goals for the future.
Once enrolled, you can take part in hour-long workout sessions with a certified athletic trainer. Up to three sessions are available each week.
We focus on strengthening your knee and improving flexibility through these and other knee exercises:
We also provide education and customize an exercise plan for you to follow at home.
When you undergo knee replacement surgery at New England Baptist Hospital, you have expert care at every stage of your journey.
