Delivering Exceptional Nursing Care

At New England Baptist Hospital, our fundamental commitment is to deliver the highest quality of nursing care to our patients in a safe environment.

A Message from Mary Sullivan Smith

Mary Sullivan SmithAs the second highest provider of orthopedic care in the United States, we are enormously proud of our patient outcomes and care team accomplishments. We deliver outstanding, high-quality care through an unwavering commitment to excellence, safety, compassion, and professionalism. We are dedicated to advancing musculoskeletal clinical care, research, and innovation.

The New England Baptist Hospital professional practice environment is expert, fast paced, and dynamic. We support a professional advancement program for nurses interested in applying to advance their professional development. We have an active Shared Decision Making structure with unit based councils representing all areas as well as central councils on Research, Practice, Quality & Safety, Coordinating, and our Journey of Excellence.

For several years, we traveled on our Journey of Excellence towards Magnet Recognition. We strengthened our practice environment through the active participation and involvement of clinical nurses, advanced practice nurses, and members of the interprofessional team. We submitted our Magnet document to the ANCC in October 2018, welcomed the ANCC nurse appraisers in April and received word on Monday, June 24, 2019 that we received Magnet designation!

New England Baptist has a rich, distinguished history of excellence in nursing care. I invite you to learn more about us and seek us out for exemplary orthopedic care.

We create a practice environment culture that encompasses our core values of respect, ownership, superior service, and excellence that:

  • Recognizes that the patient’s biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge needs are included in the delivery of nursing care. We are advocates for our patients and their families.
  • Acknowledges our specific patient population and provides care respectful of patient ethnicity, creed, nationality, religion, economic status, and gender orientation.
  • Encourages an environment that promotes professional growth, a spirit of inquiry, enhanced critical thinking, and teamwork. We are committed to the education and mentoring of the nursing, medical, and allied health students of tomorrow.
