Surgical care with advanced precision

Precise Robotic-Assisted Surgery

When you have surgery, precision matters — especially during complex procedures. At New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH), our surgeons use robotic-assisted technology to enhance accuracy and improve outcomes.

Our surgeons are leaders in robotic-assisted surgery. We were the first hospital in Massachusetts to offer robotic spine surgery. Using advanced imaging and 3D planning tools, we carefully map out each procedure to support the best possible results.

A Minimally Invasive Approach

Whenever possible, our surgeons use minimally invasive, robot-assisted techniques to treat your condition. This approach may help reduce pain and support a faster recovery — so you can get back to the activites you enjoy.

During robotic-assisted surgery, your surgeon makes small incisions at the treatment site. Tiny instruments attached to a robotic arm are inserted through these openings.  Your surgeon then controls the instruments from a console, guiding each movement with precision.

Frequently Asked Questions

You may have heard of robotic surgery but want to learn more. Here are answers to common questions.

What is robotic surgery?

Robotic-assisted surgery is performed by a highly trained surgeon who uses robotic technology to support the procedure. Your surgeon is always in control of the system.

How is robotic surgery performed?

The system includes a camera and small surgical instruments attached to robotic arms. Through tiny incisions, your surgeon places these tools inside your body. From a nearby console, the surgeon views the surgical site in high definition and guides the instruments with precise hand movements.

What are the benefits of robotic surgery?

Robotic-assisted surgery is a type of minimally invasive surgery. Potential benefits may include:

  • Faster recovery and shorter hospital stay
  • Less pain
  • Less scarring
  • Lower risk of infection and blood loss
  • Quicker return to normal activities
What is the cost of robotic surgery?

Most insurance plans cover many robotic-assisted procedures. Contact your insurance provider for details about your specific coverage. Learn more about billing at New England Baptist Hospital.
