Andrew White, MD, Named Chief of the Spine Section at New England Baptist Hospital

Boston, Mass. – New England Baptist Hospital announced today that Andrew P. White, MD, has been named chief of the spine section. White comes to the Baptist from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) where he has been division chief of spine surgery and co-director of the Spine Center since 2017.

“Andrew is a compassionate and highly-honored orthopedic surgeon as well as a well-respected leader in his field. We are fortunate to welcome him to the Baptist,” said David Passafaro, president, New England Baptist Hospital. “As our chief of the Spine Section, he will lead a team that is committed to delivering extraordinary care and helping our patients return to the activities they love.”

White has been board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery since 2009. He has been an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School since 2012 where he is also the Harvard Athletics Spine Director. He is a core teaching faculty member of the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program, and is the Program Director for the BIDMC/Harvard Spine Surgery Fellowship. In addition to BIDMC, White was previously affiliated with New England Baptist Hospital, as well as with Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton.

In 2017, White was honored by Harvard Medical School with the Program Award for Culture of Excellence in Mentoring. White graduated from Yale University School of Medicine, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. He completed his fellowship in orthopedic and neurological spine surgery at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

White specializes in adult spine surgery, cervical spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, lumbar and thoracic surgery, tumors of the spinal column and spine trauma and fractures.
