About Dr. Van Flandern

Dr. Geoffrey Van Flandern is an Orthopedic Surgeon at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH). Dr. Van Flandern is past President of the Medical Staff and has been a member of the Arthroplasty, Infection Control and Medical Executive Committees, as well as served as Chairman of the Operating Room Products Committee at NEBH.

In addition to his work at NEBH, Dr. Van Flandern holds an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine and as a Faculty Lecturer at Harvard University Medical School.

Dr. Van Flandern has published numerous works of orthopedic literature and has traveled widely as a lecturer. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and earned his medical degree from Northwestern University. He completed both his general surgery and orthopedic surgery residencies at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, and completed the Otto E. Aufranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital.

After completing his Fellowship in Boston, Dr. Van Flandern practiced in Cincinnati, Ohio for three years. He returned to the Boston area in 1998, when he joined Longwood Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Van Flandern is married and the father of four children. In his spare time he enjoys golf, triathlon competition and spending time with his family.

Dr. Van Flandern specializes in joint replacement surgery of the knee, hip and shoulder as well as anterior hip replacement and hip arthroscopy.
