About Dr. Rand
Dr. Rand is a senior spine surgeon at New England Baptist Hospital, where he joined the staff in 1988. In addition to his role at NEBH, he serves as Director of the Camer/Rand Foundation for Spinal Deformity Research.
Dr. Rand began his career at Boston Children’s Hospital as a pediatric orthopedic and adult scoliosis surgeon. His practice now focuses almost exclusively on adults with spinal deformity (scoliosis) and revision spine surgery. He follows adults with scoliosis whether surgery is needed or not, serving as a resource for their long-term scoliosis management.
Managing adult scoliosis requires careful attention to spinal balance during surgical planning. Patients who need revision spine surgery often require spinal reconstruction to restore spinal balance, incorporating the same principles used in the care of adults with scoliosis. Dr. Rand’s practice centers on these two patient groups, as they share similar treatment approaches.
