About Dr. Hartigan
Dr. Carol Hartigan is the Medical Director of the Spine Center and Spine Rehabilitation Programs at New England Baptist Hospital. She holds an appointment in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Harvard Medical School. She has served on numerous committees for the North American Spine Society.
Dr. Hartigan has authored many articles, edited journals and spoken widely about the management and rehabilitation of spinal pain. Her major clinical interest is to reduce unnecessary disability and optimize function in individuals with chronic low back pain through innovative, intensive, exercise based, cognitively-oriented rehabilitation. She has taught hundreds of medical students, residents, fellows, physical therapists, physicians and guest visitors.
After earning her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Dr. Hartigan completed an internship at Framingham Union Hospital followed by a residency Tufts University School of Medicine.
